Halloween cards 2017

These are my two cards for Halloween. I would of loved to make more but was sick for a few weeks and I worked. I did these two cards on my two week break.

 I used one of the Tim Holtz Halloween dies. It was a challenge. The paper I used is a few years old but I did find one that was similar by Reminisce. The stamp is from Graphic 45 Clear Stamps HAPPY HAUNTING.

I stamped on an orange cardstock using purple ink. Forgot the name of the background stamp, but I think any cool stamp would do. I used a deep plum ribbon from a chocolate shop. On the sides of the card I used Modge Podge with orange fine glitter mixed in. The image is a digi stamp.

I sent the tag off to KWernerDesign which she showcased it (as with many other cards and tags) in her video. Krisitina has a different topic every month so her viewers can participate. Viewing the cards and tags from other people gives me inspiration to create more and do different designs.

Halloween Cards and an ATC

I decided to make Halloween cards this year. I haven’t made cards in over a decade so trying to get back into this was a “little” difficult. The difficulty wasn’t in creating it was getting them done in time to send. I only sent two cards as it was nearing the end date. Next year I will be on the ball to make more and send more. I also did an ATC. I need to do two more for the set.

As you can see I went with a solemn look for the cards. The images are in my collection and I used a stamp for the greeting and bat. The bats background stamp was done in white so to be able to see it better. 

I wanted to do black and white for the ATC. I really like the contrast. Papers, printable image and a bat stamp was used for this.

Preserving Autumn Leaves

Collecting leaves for art, crafts or holiday decorations couldn’t be any better or easier than using this method. I used it last year and I must say this is the better choice and solution to preserving beautiful Autumn leaves.

Glycerin Method

This method is a glycerin and water solution. This will preserve your leaves yet leave them relatively flexible. This preserving method works because the natural moisture present in the leaves is replaced by the glycerin solution, maintaining the leaf's texture and form.

Supplies:

• Glycerin
• Water
• Flat pan or disposable plates
• A weight or something to keep leaves submerged
• Leaves

Instructions:

1. Mix the glycerin and water so that it is one part glycerin and two parts water. You only need enough to submerge the leaves - about one cup. You can be flexible depending on the shape and size of the container.

2. Pour the solution into a flat pan, place the leaves in the solution, and then put the weight (not too heavy) on the leaves to keep them submerged. (Tip: try using two Styrofoam or other disposable plates. Put leaves and enough glycerin solution to just lightly cover the leaves in the bottom of one plate. Then put the other plate on top of the leaves and solution. Now you can put a weight of your choosing on the top plate without getting the weight in the solution.)

3. Keep the leaves submerged in the solution for 2-6 days.

4. Dry the leaves gently with a paper towel. They should feel soft and pliable.
